How long is the free trial?

The free trial is 14 days. After the 14 days, you will be reminded to upgrade your account to continue receiving alerts and reports. During the activation process, you can extend your free trial to 30 days by providing your credit card number. What does ProtectMe do?

ProtectMe is a tool to help you identify and address any dangerous situations that your child may encounter while interacting with others in video games, from cyberbullying to predatory behavior. ProtectMe analyzes your child’s gaming activity and in-game communication to alert you of any potentially concerning situations.

How does ProtectMe work?

Simply sign up for ProtectMe and download the software onto any Windows PC. Once installed, any time your child plays video games or uses a communication app such as Discord, ProtectMe is prompted to turn on and analyze gaming communications for any potential red flags. In your weekly report email, you will receive alerts of any alarming behaviors along with recommendations on how to discuss the specific threats with your child. We know that talking to kids about bullying, depression, suicide or predatory behavior can be challenging. Consider Kidas your partner in alerting you to such concerns and providing you the resources necessary to support your kids.

What type of computers does Kidas support?

Kidas supports computers that run on Windows Operating systems.

Kidas does not run on tablets, smartphones, Chromebooks or Mac computers. ProtectMe works with Windows 10/11 64bit.

How should I discuss ProtectMe with my child?

We created ProtectMe to help parents support their children in navigating their digital lives safely. It is possible to install ProtectMe without your child’s knowledge and likewise you may choose to discuss installing ProtectMe with your child. ProtectMe protects your child’s privacy and does not share the specifics of conversations with parents. Parents are only alerted of potential issues and cannot access or directly review any conversations or transcripts.

What games & apps does ProtectMe cover?

ProtectMe monitors communications in PC games and gaming-related communication platforms. Currently, ProtectMe monitors more than 120 games including Roblox, Fortnite, Minecraft and Discord. You can view a full list of the games we monitor here. If your child plays a game that is not on the list, please reach out to [email protected] and we will look into adding it to our monitoring list.

Can my child disable ProtectMe?

A one-time use uninstallation password will be sent to the email used at the time of uninstallation, so you will be notified. If your child tries to delete the software without being uninstalled, we will notify you.

How accurate is ProtectMe by Kidas?

Kidas uses advanced technology that was built by experts and tested on thousands of cases. It is possible that you will get an alert about a case you do not consider concerning. In those rare cases, we would be happy to get your feedback so we can further improve our technology.

What language does ProtectMe support?

Currently, ProtectMe only supports English.

When will I start receiving reports?

You will start receiving real time SMS alerts as soon as they are detected after installation. Every Tuesday, you will receive your child’s weekly report.

How will I receive the alerts from ProtectMe?

ProtectMe sends you personalized weekly reports and real-time alerts to the email provided during installation. If you opted-in to SMS alerts, you will receive real-tie alerts via SMS.

What do I do if I receive a red alert?

We understand that receiving a red alert can be concerning. Your reports include resources needed to handle each type of alert. We suggest talking with your child and verifying the details of any threat. Follow the links attached to the weekly reports to receive more guidance. Will Kidas share my child’s recordings & transcripts with me?

Kidas firmly believes that children should retain a level of privacy in their internet use. While we alert you of the threat and offer recommendations on how to speak with your child, we do not share recordings or text transcripts. We strongly encourage parents and guardians to have an ongoing dialog with their children regarding safe and appropriate internet use. The weekly report includes tailor-made recommendations for different scenarios, which elaborate on how to handle each of the threats with your child.

What Countries does ProtectMe work in?

Currently, ProtectMe is available in the US & Canada.

I see Overwolf during activation. Why is that?

Kidas uses Overwolf technology to connect to games. You will see it installed on your computer.

Can I use ProtectMe on more than one computer or monitor more than one child?

Yes, you can use ProtectMe on more than one computer. To monitor more than one child, ensure that you create an account for each child at the time of installation with their name and age to ensure accurate reports.

How do I apply a Promo code?

You will be able to add a promo code on the Stripe checkout page where you provide your payment details. You will see the option on the left side of the screen. Enter the promo code and click apply. If your promo code does not work, please contact us at [email protected]

What is the “blocked by group policy” error?

The error message “this program is blocked by group policy” is caused by the affected user or owner of the computer enabling the software restriction policy. The group policy controls the working environment of user accounts, so you can change the setup to repair this error by following the steps below:

  1. Press Windows + R to invoke the run dialogue. Type gpedit.msc and press the Enter key to open the Group Policy window
  2. Expand User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System. In the right pane, scroll down and find “Don’t run specified Windows application”.
  3. Click on the Show button.
  4. Remove ProtectMe from the disallowed list and click OK.

Security and Safety

How does Kidas keep my child’s data safe?

Security is critical to Kidas. Your child’s data is encrypted throughout every step of the monitoring process, including when ProtectMe analyzes data and sends parents alerts. All of our servers are physically located in the United States.

How does Kidas keep my child’s data private?

Kidas complies to the strictest privacy regulations, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).  We do not share your child’s data with any third party.

Can I review more of my child’s activity?

Kidas is built to protect your child’s privacy. To maintain open communication and trust, we feel that it’s important only to alert parents when it is critical to their child’s well being. Aside from these alerts, Kidas will not share in-depth details about your child’s activity. We do not share recordings or text transcripts. According to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), we will provide you the data that the software analyzed upon request. For more information, please read our privacy policy.

How do I disable ProtectMe?

If you need to disable Kidas from your computer, you will need to follow a few easy steps.
1. Click add/remove programs on your Windows computer

2. Select Kidas and click “Uninstall”
3. When the program opens, you will see the option to send a one-time uninstallation password

4. Enter the email you signed up with and then copy the uninstallation password from your inbox

Children’s Questions

What does ProtectMe do?

What type of information will my parents get?

Kidas protects your privacy and does not share specifics of your conversations with your parents.Your parents will be notified about the type of threat you were involved in. We do not share voice recordings or text transcripts. Our role is to keep you safe, not invade your privacy. Your parents are only alerted of concerning and dangerous issues. Kidas does not report on anything you do outside of gaming. With ProtectMe, everyone is safer.

Will they see or hear my conversations?

No, your parents will not see or hear your conversations. We understand that time spent gaming and connecting with your friends is your business. We do not share specifics of your conversations.

Are they considering ProtectMe because they don’t trust me?

Absolutely not! ProtectMe was not developed to snoop on you. It’s there to keep you safe. While you might be very safe while you are online, hackers, spammers, pedophiles and other dangerous people are very skilled. They have a way of finding anyone and getting in touch with you without your knowledge. Even adults are contacted by these people. Kidas’ only goal is to keep you safe. We are working overtime to ensure you are safe while you play.

Can parents decide what they have access to?

Every parent who signs up for ProtectMe has access to the same information. In order to maintain your trust and open lines of communication between you and your parents, we do not share additional information with parents.

Will disabling the ProtectMe software slow down the speed of my computer?

No, while ProtectMe will automatically run in the background when you are online, our software is designed to minimize the capacity required and ensure an optimal in-game experience.

Roblox

Do I need to connect ProtectMe to Roblox?

If your child plays Roblox and you want ProtectMe to analyze the communication to include in your weekly report, you will need to connect it to your child’s Roblox account.

What happens if I activate ProtectMe but don’t connect it to Roblox?

If you Activate ProtectMe and skip the Roblox connection, ProtectMe will not be able to monitor Roblox communications. However, the software will still monitor all other games with the exception of Roblox.

If I don’t connect ProtectMe to Roblox, will I be able to do this later?

If you skip over the Roblox connection during installation, you will only be able to connect to Roblox if you uninstall the software and re-install it. Then you can connect to Roblox during the installation.

Do I need to know my child’s Roblox password to connect ProtectMe to Roblox?

Yes, you need your child’s Roblox password and as well as access to their two-factor authentication if it is activated. If two-factor authentication is added to their account, the verification number will be sent to the email that was used when the account was set up. You will need access to this email as well.

What if my child doesn’t have a Roblox account or I’m not sure if they have an account?

During the download process, the ProtectMe software will check if Roblox is installed on your child’s computer. If your child does not have Roblox on their computer, you will not see the Roblox connection prompt. If your child does have Roblox on their computer, you will see the directions to connect Kidas to Roblox.
